Yesterday, for the first time in too long, I did a real, honest to goodness lunge. Yes, I'm talking about the workout move that is the bane of most everyone's existence. For the past couple of years it has been the bane of my left knee. After last summer's muscle-sciatic attack and corresponding physical therapy, I couldn't do much more than a 2 inch range of motion in my lunges on either leg because of my left knee. Well, I have broken through the wall. It may have taken months longer than my PT thought to strengthen my knee appropriately to accommodate a wider range of motion (before PT I didn't have access to the last 10% in the range of motion of my knee; I was unable to fully straighten my leg) but I have done it!
It's the little things in life really bring out the true joy in people. It's also the little things that remind us how thankful we should be that we can walk, talk, move on our own, etc. I'm going to try harder to find more little things to be thankful for and focus on them being little miracles. It may have taken almost a week, but I finally know what I should be focusing on this Lenten season.
Score one for the miracles.
